[REVIEW] Althea Beauty Box – Bbo Song aka Baby Soft Skin

[REVIEW] Althea Beauty Box – Bbo Song aka Baby Soft Skin

I’ve always been so envious of South Koreans for their smooth flawless skin! I aspire to have my skin as flawless as theirs but the humid weather in SG only amplifies my pores and oil production, especially the area around my nose! Luckily, Althea has sent over their Bbo Song Beauty Box to save me of pores and greasy oily skin.

Wait, but first, what’s Althea?

Althea is a leading KBeauty site with over 150 Korean beauty brands on board!

The Althea Box

It is Althea’s line of limited edition beauty boxes, specially curated by the fairy team in Seoul. The boxes are based on specific themes and each box can hold anywhere from 6 – 12 full-size products depending on the theme and value.

Althea releases 2 Althea Boxes every month. But the downside is these beauty boxes are limited in quantity (while stocks last) on a first come first serve basis. The Althea Box is a hit among fans and gets sold out really quick.

[BEAUTY REVIEW] Labottach V-up, T-zone & eye patch from Korea

[BEAUTY REVIEW] Labottach V-up, T-zone & eye patch from Korea

Recently entering the shores of Singapore is Labottach, a pharmaceutical and cosmetics company from Korea! Although they are new to Singapore, they are not new to the skincare world.

Labottach:

WooShin Labottach was first established in 1992 in Korea and has been focusing on research and developing pharmaceutical and cosmetic products over the past 20 years. After successfully exported their products to Europe, Korea, China, Taiwan, they are now launching their products in Singapore!

Labottach Skincare:

  • Exclusive Innovated material and formulation with our own R&D Center
  • Dermatologist tested in Germany (suitable for sensitive skin & prenant woman)
  • Products are clinically proven effective

I was really intrigued by Labottach’s skin care products as, in comparison to the typical sheet mask that lasts for just 20mins,¬†they last for 6 – 8 hours.¬†Also, all the ingredients that they use are¬†free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicones, sulfates, alcohol, mineral oil.

My 10 step korean skincare routine (free of: parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicones, sulfates, alcohol, mineral oil) 2017

If you have read my previous article, you will know that I did a massive disposal of my skincare when I found out that they contained harsh ingredients that are not so good for our skin like; parabens, sulfates, alcohol, mineral oil, phenoxyethanol and silicones.

My previous 2016 post here:

My 10 step korean skincare routine (free of: parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicones, sulfates, alcohol, mineral oil)

I am so glad that us consumers are becoming more and more savvy about the skincare products that we purchase these days and we are starting to look into product ingredients carefully before purchasing.

I have only been using clean products that are free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils, alcohol, silicones (really hard to avoid in moisturisers), sulfates, and etc. I am happy to say that my skin is really stable now vs its previous erratic self. Although I might get the occasional pimple from having too much chocolate, it has never been better in my life!

Searching for products that are free of the list of ingredients above hasn’t been easy. Products that label themselves as ‘paraben free’ may sometimes still contain phenoxyethanol. And it is super hard to find moisturisers that do not contain silicones.

After much searching, here is my 2nd compiled multi step Korean skincare routine!

Beauty Review: Ezn Pudding Ammonia Free hair color in Smokey Ash Beige

Beauty Review: Ezn Pudding Ammonia Free hair color in Smokey Ash Beige

Recently, my brown hair color has faded and turned very yellow. I wanted to tone the yellow down to something more ash, so I started the search for an ash hair dye.  I did some research online, and i chanced upon the Ezn Shaking Pudding Hair Color. On a side note, if one were to browse for hair dyes in a physical shop, I think they would have totally walked past the Ezn pudding hair color because well, the box looks more like jelly than hair dye!

They have so many different shades of ash to choose from, and all of them are so appealing, so much that I wanted to buy them all! On top of that, a bigger factor in my decision to pick this Pudding Hair Color is because it is AMMONIA FREE! Gorgeous ash color + Ammonia free? I was sold! (Maybe also the fact that it is a korean hair dye made me more bias towards it :P)

Korea: Quick guide to claiming your tax refund at Incheon airport 2017

Claiming your tax refund in Korea has become even simplier than it was a year back because now, most shops offer IMMEDIATE tax refund on the spot, so you need not haggle around with a mountain of tax refund slips.

Your receipt will state very clearly “Immediate tax refund”

Remember to bring along your passport with you when you’re shopping to get the immediate tax refund. Otherwise, remember to request for the tax refund slips.

However, there are still shops that don’t provide immediate tax refund, so here‚Äôs what you need to do to get your tax refund.

Korea: Behind the scenes of a pre-wedding photoshoot at Bong Studio

Korea: Behind the scenes of a pre-wedding photoshoot at Bong Studio

I will have to say that Tyrell and I took a leap of faith signing up for a pre-wedding photoshoot package with a foreign company, without knowing much about the detailed process, nor meeting any representatives face to face. All communication was done via email only. We weren’t able to find any blog posts or information online about the actual process, but we jumped into it, which is not something we usually do. All I can say is that we have good faith in Korean studios XD

Here’s what you need to know and what it’s like to fly overseas and have a pre-wedding photoshoot with local Korean photo Studio, Studio Bong.

UPDATE: My 2017 list is here!

My 10 step korean skincare routine (free of: parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicones, sulfates, alcohol, mineral oil) 2017

Just last year, I became more aware of the types of ingredients that go into beauty products and started to read product labels.I was so shocked that almost all the drugstore products contained many harmful ingredients.

Ever since that happened, I threw away quite a fair bit of skincare and beauty products that contain harmful ingredients. It really wasn’t easy, to see all my $$$ thrown into the bin. But I can say that I do not regret it at all, my skin has improved tremendously since then.

Since then, I’ve repurchased only clean products and by clean I mean products that are free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils, alcohol, silicones (really hard to avoid in moisturisers), sulfates, and etc.
